“As we express our gratitude we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.”
Life has been good to me. I have a wonderful family, happy, healthy children and a loving husband. Life has given me numerous opportunities, adventures and experiences. I feel very grateful for all that I have.
Supporting The Gratitude Project is my small way to ‘pay it forward’ and give something back.
The Gratitude Project was launched by Gaia Calcaterra and Thabo Nyathi (both from South Africa) who live in Miami, Florida and Hannes Pieters, who leads the relief effort on the ground in South Africa.
Along with a group of volunteers, the initiative was founded to benefit and improve the lives of children in child-headed household in Nkomazi, South Africa.
These are households where parents have died, or are extremely sick due to the HIV & tuberculosis, leaving the oldest child to take care of the younger siblings and run the household, oftentimes with no resources.
Approximately 122,000 children are affected in South Africa alone. These children are vulnerable, and in urgent need of support, basic necessities, and education.
The Gratitude project works in conjunction with the Room Five Charity Foundation Inc, a registered 501-c3 organization based in Miami. The team is 100% volunteer based.
